With a creative streak throughout school years, a career in the design and creation of jewellery was a natural progression.
Straight from school
Tim's first step into jewellery was with a small retailer in his local Yorkshire town, mainly serving over the counter and doing a few repairs. As time passed his interest grew and so he moved on to learn more about the ins and outs of jewellery, taking a position with a wholesale manufacturer in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
Manufacturing Jewellery
Here Tim worked with a team of 15, (including Michael), and really started to build his skills. Taking on many new tasks, he learnt everything from casting to creating finished items, which provided a solid grounding for understanding how all aspects of production works.
Retail Jeweller
After about 4 years, Tim moved to Ogdens of Harrogate, a well respected family jewellers in North Yorkshire, where he enjoyed working with finer, more expensive pieces.
Working with customers across Yorkshire who needed pieces re-designing, repairing and advising on maintaining customer's jewellery was all in the day to day running of the workshop.
Model Making
Tim was then head hunted by the largest jewellery manufacturers in Europe, (based in Leeds) and here learnt model making skills working for clients nationally and Internationally.
Here he was taught about there being a big difference between producing a piece which looks nice and one that is technically correct, enthralled by the precise nature of this level of jewellery creation.
Management
Five years on Tim was approached by another Leeds firm, to manage their model making department and enjoyed heading up the team, managing deadlines and passing experience on to staff.
...From here the next step was the creation of Leeds based Form Bespoke Jewellers Ltd, and here you'll find him today, creating bespoke engagement and wedding rings, as well as dress rings, earrings, bracelets, and all other types of jewellery you can think of!
