We are extremely excited to announce that Gary Thompson has joined Form Bespoke Jewellers. Gary is bringing to Form over 26 years experience working within the jewellery industry.
Straight from school
In 1985 Gary left school and gained an apprenticeship with a wholesale manufacturer in Leeds, where he acquired his basic jewellery skills from jewellery repairing, casting and creating finished items, which provided a solid grounding for understanding how all aspects of production works.
Model making, management
In 1990 he joined largest manufacturer of jewellery in Europe as a model maker working up to a managerial position overseeing a team of 6. As a highly skilled and creative jewellery model maker, Gary worked on highly commercial ranges for high end customers including Independent Jewellers and large National Accounts such as Marks & Spencer and Costco. It was in this role that he met and worked along side Tim Swann also Marianne Shipley.
Whilst there, Gary also worked in product development and in consultation with International companies. Gary worked on location in the Far East setting an 18ct gold high end jewellery workshop and also managed the creative development from the UK to deliver highly competitive jewellery ranges.
Award winning designer
Throughout his career Gary has been involved in not only the model making but also the design side of creating fine jewellery. Following his involvement in many collections, he has designed and created the award winning first Palladium Gents collection to be hallmarked in the UK. The collection was recognised internationally, acknowledging Gary’s understanding of jewellery and the customer.
Gary has also created a beautiful brooch that was commissioned by the Red Arrows, which was presented to Princess Anne. This was set with princess cut rubies and diamonds, in the formation of the Red Arrows.
CAD designer and creator
As well as being a fully skilled model maker and jeweller, Gary has over 8 years CAD (Computer Aided Design) designer knowledge, combining the skills of model making and jewellery design.
After researching the market Gary would present a jewellery collection matching the customers brief for review. Once the collection had been reviewed, a 3D CAD design would be created for each piece of jewellery which would be sent to a 3D printer to be cast in the chosen precious metal.
CAD (computer aided design) adds another string to the bow of creative model making at Form Bespoke Jewellers, allowing beautiful jewellery to be created to specific budgets and ranges to be developed.
Gary joins us at a perfect time as Form Bespoke Jewellers continues to grow, offering a CAD design service to our customers and increasing the options to offer incredible value. Gary’s skills will ensure that Form Bespoke Jewellers continues at the forefront of creating beautiful bespoke fine jewellery to suit all budgets.
