Nightmare before Christmas
It's that time of year again and for many men the prospect of shopping for their loved one can = a nightmare. Expectations are high, the excitement is immense and it's all down to you to choose the perfect present.

It's the thought that counts
The first thing to remember is that it's not actually about what you buy that matters but the thought that comes with it. Make sure you put your heart and soul into the present- take time thinking about what she'll love, something that will make her smile and you've cracked it.
Do your research
Like any purchasing decision, a bit of research is required to make sure you get it right.
If you're buying jewellery for your partner you need to consider:
- the style. Does she wear chunky or delicate jewellery? Would she prefer a necklace and pendant or earrings?
- the colour. Does she wear white or yellow gold jewellery? Women are quite precious about what colours suit them so see what she already has and go from there.
- the size. You may have excelled yourself with the most gorgeous gift, but if it doesn't fit you'll see the disappointment in her eyes as she was looking forward to showing it off to her friends, but won't be able to wear it until it's re-sized. The simplest answer here is to ‘borrow' one of her existing pieces of jewellery and bring it with you for us to work from.
True sentiment
For many women jewellery also = True sentiment. Something we've done for many clients is re-fashioning old jewellery to make it more wearable, so women can wear their mother's, or granny's ring that they've kept in the draw but would never wear in its current form- they love it but it's not their style. We can make it their style.
For this one it's worth conferring with family member to see if any such jewellery exists -we wouldn't recommend just lifting things from her jewellery box and re-fashioning them without her consent. But there may be pieces within the family this would work for.
Confident Choice
Of course if you're convinced you know your other half like the back of your hand, and would like to have something made from scratch that you design, there's nothing more romantic than that (unless of course you're planning to propose - and that is our speciality!!!). These collections are limited edition - we just make a handful of each, each year, so your loved one can be assured she won't meet her friend in the pub wearing the same thing.
- Another option is to choose from our ranges we source from around the world - we are chosen suppliers of Bien, Xen and Feniom jewellery and we also buy a handful of individual pieces that catch our eye from independent suppliers.
- Alternatively, if you think you really would struggle picking something out, you could go for a gift voucher , or come and see us to choose a stone you think she'd like and you can present her with that at Christmas, then let her come in and design her own jewellery around it.
The finishing touch
So you've got the best gift ever. Now you can relax, but it's not over yet...don't fall at the last hurdle. The present will sit under the tree for weeks until it is finally time to unwrap and in the meantime it needs to look enticing. Use thick wrapping paper so that it doesn't rip and make sure you add a ribbon - yes we know it seems pointless but we promise she'll love it all the more! For extra sparkle you could go that extra mile and include Form's very own champagne to help you celebrate your success on Christmas day!
